Tom got the racing bug when he drove his neighbors 1987 Porsche 944 at a few PCA HPDEs in 1999. Lack of funds put a temporary hold on road racing and Tom turned to autox in 2001 after driving his roommates' 2002 Subaru WRX. Tom had immediate success in Solo2 after purchasing his own WRX soon after. In his first full autox season Tom won the Pro Solo finale in Topeka, KS and finished runner up in the season championship. After winning the Solo2 National Championship in September 2004, Tom turned his attention to road racing, selling his WRX and taking the 2005 season off of autox and competition to get plenty of track seat time and get his 1999 Civic Si ready for Club Racing competition in 2006.
